International Media Cultural Work
Conferences and Symposia
In the Master’s program International Media Cultural Work (IMC) international symposia and conferences play a major role. This kind of transdisciplinary professional exchange is a major objective of the degree program. All these events combine theory and practice, which means artistic/aesthetic as well as discursive approaches. They reflect not only the program’s foci on research and creation, but also emerging new directions of designs, technologies and discourses, and the ways by which IMC, its lecturers as well as its students, want to critically adopt them.
All IMC symposia and conferences are putting their emphasis on strengthening innovative media production and facilitation by original and in-depth theoretical debates and vice versa.
Ex\\Immersio Conference Series
Ex\\Immersio has been a series of conferences since 2019, which aims to brush against the grain: Its name expresses a figure of thought, that pursues a critical intellectual and artistic discourse on the popular term of “immersion”, scrutinizing the ubiquitous and overused term. By questioning and analyzing its axioms and implicit assumptions, Ex\\Immersio strives for critical artistic and philosophical positions, and different, maybe innovative reception paradigms of production and reception of intellectual and aesthetic knowledge.
